Welcome back! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break. I am energized about these upcoming weeks as we have some important learning opportunities and events happening. This week, we will transition back into our routine by sharing what we did over break and reviewing key concepts focused upon before the break. During this part of the year, we will focus on helping the students expand their comprehension skills in reading by looking more in-depth at details presented by comparing and contrasting different stories. Also, we will focus on strategies that help readers to think more critically about the text they are reading. In math, we will focus on different addition and subtraction strategies with three or more digit numbers. We will then transition to applying these strategies to word problems while thinking critically about the word problems. During our focus in Social Studies, we are focusing on the lives of three incredible Americans and Georgians who made or continue to make lasting contributions to our country and even the world. Our historical figures of focus are Martin Luther King, Jr., Jimmy Carter, and Juliette Gordon Low. Each of these figures provide excellent examples of leadership, service, and philanthropy. It is my goal that the students walk away with an understanding of their contributions and seeing how they can become examples of these traits as well. In class this week, we will focus on...
