ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
We have a full year of learning ahead of us and I am hoping that we all aim to have perfect attendance and arrive at school each day on time. Students are expected to be at school no later than 7:45 am. School begins at 7:45 am and any student who arrives after this time is considered tardy. Please escort your child to the office to receive a tardy note. If your child is absent from school, please send an email or note. If there is ever a change in your child’s usual plans for after school (for example, s/he will be picked up instead of riding the bus), please send a note explaining the change at the beginning of the day. Please try to not send an e-mail during the day since I may not be able to check my messages before the end of the day. Class Dojo may be used to send messages but again, to be sure, please send a note. To ensure that your child gets home safely, I cannot make a change in their usual arrangements without written permission from you.
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
If your child will need school breakfast, breakfast is served from 7:30 am to 7:50 am. If your child will eat breakfast, please have them at school by 7:30 am. Our scheduled lunchtime is 11:00 am -11:30 pm. If you are sending in lunch money, please send checks and cash in labeled envelopes that include the child’s name, date, and my name. We will also have a Snack Break during the day. Please send a snack in with your child.
HOMEWORK POLICY
Students will be expected to read each night for at least 20 minutes and practice multiplication facts regularly. Also, students may complete Compass Learning/IXL (Math andReading) for at least 40 minutes.
READING IS FUNDAMENTAL!
In our class, I incorporate many reading activities to help strengthen the students’ reading skills. But some reading must also be done at home. Here is how you can help. Make sure that your child reads for at least 25 minutes every day and discuss their reading with you. All students are allowed to check out books from our school library. This will help to give them access to a wide variety of reading material that will help strengthen their skills.

We have a 6 day Specials Rotation. Our Specials' schedule is:
Day 1: PE
Day 2: Tech
Day 3: PE
Day 4: Music

PARENT CONFERENCES

COMMUNICATION
Each week, I will communicate class updates using our e-newsletter via email. Class Dojo may also be sent during the week to provide quick updates. This class website will provide you with photos from our class, information for parents, our class calendar, videos, podcasts, links to helpful websites, and much more. I advise each parent to their email regularly and website weekly to view newly updated documents and other items.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Our class will need the awesome volunteers that I know the Montgomery family can provide. We need volunteers for various activities in and outside of the classroom. A volunteer form will be sent in the next few weeks. Please consider signing up for one or more volunteer opportunities. Thanks in advance!
If you have any questions about these policies and procedures, please email me. Let’s work together to have a SUPER year!
